It was cold Sunday morning of 7.Jan.2018 in Vizag where a “Pinkathon” was being organized at the Beach Road and 15 employees of BARC Vizag unit decided to go on a trek to Simhachalam hill. 

The employees gathered around 6:00 am at Madhavadhara temple from where the broken steps lead to Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, Simhachalam (around 900 year old temple). It typically takes about 1 hour to reach top of the hill which is at a height of around 280 m. The trek participants started at 6:15 am from the temple and within 1 hour, they reached top of the hill. They took rest for about 15 min and started the hill trek. The total distance towards the Hanumantha waka Junction is around 12 km. 

This stretch is known for spotting of leopards & wild boars. The trekkers were always in a close group and made a head count every 1 hour. The entire trek is muddy with gravel as there was an earlier plan of the state government to commercialize this route, but the plan was shelved for some reason. In patches, there was 5 feet grass and bushes on both sides of the route. 

Enroute, the trekkers stopped at 2-3 locations to take rest, eat and to hydrate themselves with water. They also took pictures. Being winter, the sun was not too harsh. The only sound they all heard was chirping of the various birds and sound of commercial aircraft taking off from the nearby Vizag airport. At one point, they heard the sound of traffic and soon realized that they were going down the hill and nearing the destination. 

After about 5 hours at around 11:20 am, all the trekkers reached the highway near Hanumantha waka Junction. It was a successful trekking experience for all employees some of whom are regular trekkers. To some, this was the first trek and they too enjoyed the time spent.

Annual Day Function of DAE Employees’ Recreational Club Visakhapatna (DAEERCV) was celebrated with great enthusiasm. The presence of Shri. D Venkateswarlu, Regional Director as Chief Guest for the function made this day a great success. The other dignitaries present during the function were Shri P. Minutes of General Body Meeting held on 20-07-2017

General Body Meeting of DAE Employees’ Recreational Club Visakhapatnam was held on 20.07.2017 in Table Tennis Room, BARC, Visakhapatnam at 17:30 Hrs to transact the business of General Body notified vide notification dated 27.06.2017.

The following are the proceedings of the meeting:

1. The General Body Meeting was declared adjourned for 10 minutes for want of quorum at 17:45. The adjournment was moved by Shri Sanjay Singh, General Secretary, DAEERCV.
2. The adjourned General Body Meeting started at 17:55.
3. Shri Sanjay Singh, General Secretary, DAEERCV welcomed all the members present, Shri P. Sai Kumar, President, DAEERCV, Shri A. Sathasivam, Ex-President, DAEERCV and the Executive Committee Members.
4. Shri Sanjay Singh, General Secretary, DAEERCV requested Shri P. Sai Kumar, President, DAEERCV to preside over the meeting.
5. Shri Sanjay Singh, General Secretary, DAEERCV proposed Shri A. Sathasivam to record the proceedings of the General Body Meeting.
6. Shri Sanjay Singh, General Secretary, DAEERC invited Shri P. Sai Kumar, President, DAEERCV to deliver Presidential Address.
7. Shri P. Sai Kumar, President, DAEERCV delivered Presidential Address. The following were the excerpts of his address:
   1. He welcomed the members present.
   2. He congratulated the out-going President Shri A. Sathasivam for his time and effort in the discharge of his duties as President, DAEERCV.
   3. He assured the General Body to strive to continue the development of the club, through co-operation and hard work.
   4. He invited many more volunteers to share the load to make the club much stronger and vibrant.
   5. He assured that all possible steps will be taken to co-ordinate with the concerned authorities of the Department and other Government agencies for the development of the club in Autonagar and main-site at Atchutapuram.
8. Shri P. Sai Kumar, President, DAEERCV introduced the present Executive Committee members to the General Body.
9. Shri Sanjay Singh, General Secretary, DAEERCV thanked Shri P. Sai Kumar, President, DAEERCV for delivering Presidential Address and instilling confidence and faith in the members.
10. Shri Sanjay Singh, General Secretary, DAEERCV presented report of activities undertaken by the club since its formation in the year 2015. The main excerpts of his report are as follows:
    1. He informed the house that:
       1. The club was formed and bye-laws were adopted in the meeting held on 15.03.2017.
       2. Ad-hoc committee was formed to start the activities of the club.
       3. Total 93 individuals joined as member of club by the end of March 2016.
       4. Volleyball court and badminton court was made ready for the members.
       5. Various tournaments are being conducted from time-to-time since its formation.
       6. The Club was recognised by BARC vide letter no. 24/1(Welf)/2015-Adm.III/3148 dated 13.03.2017.
       7. The Club was registered under Andhra Pradesh Societies Registration Act 2001 vide certificate No.190 of 2017 dated 21.03.2017
       8. Savings bank account for the club was opened in Union Bank of India, Gajuwaka Branch, Visakhapatnam.
       9. Subscription towards membership is being collected from salary and is directly deposited in the Club’s bank account.
       10. By the end of March, 2017 the membership strength grew to 98.
       11. Present Executive Committee was declared elected vide notification dated 01.05.2017.
       12. Shri. P. Sai Kumar, SO/G, ESD(V) was nominated as President, DAEERCV by Regional Director, BARC, Visakhapatnam vide letter no. 24/1(Welf)/2015-Adm.III/5830 dated 12.05.2017.
       13. As on today the total number of members are 134.
       14. He thanked President, DAEERCV, the members of Executive Committee and all the members for extending all help and support.
11. Shri Sanjay Singh, General Secretary, DAEERCV requested the General Body to accept and approve the report.
12. The report presented by General Secretary, DAEERCV was accepted and approved unanimously.
13. Shri Sanjay Singh, General Secretary, DAEERCV invited Shri KK Sahu, Treasurer, DAEERCV, to present before the house the audited report of expenditures for the financial year 2015-2016.
14. Shri KK Sahu, Treasurer, DAEERCV presented the audited report of expenditures for the financial year 2015-2016.
15. Shri Sanjay Singh, General Secretary, DAEERCV requested the General Body to pass and adopt the audited report of expenditures for the financial year 2015-2016.
16. The General Body passed and adopted audited report of expenditures for the financial year 2015-2016.
17. Shri Sanjay Singh, General Secretary, DAEERCV invited Shri KK Sahu, Treasurer, DAEERCV, to present before the house the audited report of expenditures for the financial year 2016-2017.
18. Shri KK Sahu, Treasurer, DAEERCV presented the audited report of expenditures for the financial year 2016-2017.
19. Shri Sanjay Singh, General Secretary, DAEERCV requested the General Body to pass and adopt the audited report of expenditures for the financial year 2016-2017.
20. The General Body passed and adopted audited report of expenditures for the financial year 2016-2017.
21. Shri Sanjay Singh, General Secretary, DAEERCV informed the General Body about the dues from the members (total value amounting to Rs.15,195/-) for the period 01.01.2016 – 31.03.2017 and proposed for the recovery of the same from salary of the members. The General Body accepted the proposal.
22. Shri Sanjay Singh, General Secretary, DAEERCV, with the permission of the Chair, invited members to express their views and inform the house if they have any proposal for discussion.
23. Shri T. Srihari suggested that a request may be submitted to Regional Director, BARC Visakhapatnam for approving the formation of indoor badminton court in the shed behind Canteen building, BARC, Visakhapatnam.
24. Shri Sanjay Singh, General Secretary, DAEERCV invited Shri Rahulnath PP, Joint Secretary, DAEERCV to propose a Vote of Thanks.
25. Shri Rahulnath PP, Joint Secretary, DAEERCV on behalf of the Executive Committee and on his own behalf expressed thanks to:
    1. Secretary, Department of Atomic Energy (DAE); Director, BARC; Regional Director, BARC(V); Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), BARC(V); Deputy Controller of Accounts (DCA), BARC(V); all Administration and Accounts staff of BARC(V) for their support, guidance and co-operation in carrying out the activities of the Club by granting recognition, sanction of grants, collection of subscription, etc.
    2. Shri P Sai Kumar, President, DAEERCV for being a guiding force all the while.
    3. Shri Sanjay Singh, General Secretary and all other Executive Committee members for sharing the responsibilities.
    4. All the members for being a continuous support and encouragement.
